GC Zell am See – On the luxury of switching off "Golf at the highest level." This is the guiding principle of the LEADING GOLF COURSES. Representatives of the member companies talk about the ideas and values behind it.

By Alex Lahoda (Hcp 3.8), professional ice hockey player, golf fan and member of the GC Zell am See: »On the luxury of switching off«

I started playing golf as a child - but found it a bit boring. I'm now 28 and have been a professional ice hockey player for about nine years. Since then, I've started playing golf regularly again and enjoy it - because I now appreciate what I used to find boring: the peace and quiet of a leisurely round after a busy period. It's a luxury for me to be able to switch off and not look at my phone for a few hours.

What I particularly like about my home club is the setting, with the mountains, the glacier and the lake - this combination makes the place unique: as we have 36 holes, there is always a place available. From a sporting point of view, I particularly like the design of the holes and the large practice area next to the clubhouse. Of course, I also appreciate the amenities around the game, such as the friendly secretariat, the good cuisine and, in my opinion, the most beautiful clubhouse terrace in Austria.

This overall package, which combines many small details to create a good feeling for the game of golf, is probably one of the secrets that makes a great club a Leading Golf Club, where many criteria are regularly and anonymously checked. This is probably also the reason why the club is experiencing such a boom and is attracting so many young people.

With sporty greetings!
