Hannes Gramshammer, Head-Greenkeeper GC Achensee: »Leading« has made a big difference!
The privilege of being a Leading Golf Course means a lot to us: Due to the regular, anonymous quality controls, everyone at the golf club - from the secretariat to us greenkeepers - is even more focused on constant and consistent quality improvement! This concerns especially the condition of the greens and fairways. In order to increase comfort and speed of play, the wooded areas between the fairways are also mowed and maintained.
We are embedded in a beautiful alpine ambience, which also brings special challenges for greenkeeping due to the altitude between 950 and 1000 meters. The idyll all around - for example the view from hole 7 to the Tristenkopf (mind the enclosed photo with the return view FROM the Tristenkopf!) - we also want to transfer into the details: At the parking lot entrance 30 flower troughs welcome the guests and all over the course flower meadows, flower strips and flower beds line the fairways.
The exchange and comparison with the other Leading Golf Courses has achieved a lot. On the one hand, the recognition and correction of one or the other inadequacy and then the many small things, such as well-structured mowing edges, square tees, water dispensers covered with wooden shingles, etc., which ensure a beautiful overall picture.
With sporty greetings!
